Ida Koklin

1887 -1942

Ida Koklin (née Becker) on 15 June 1887 in Latvia. She came to Norway in 1897. She married Benjamin Koklin (b. 1891 in Latvia) and had five children; Charles (b. 1914), Gitel (b. 1916), Ruth (b. 1919), Julius (b. 1922) and Emil Georg (b. 1925). The family first lived in Oslo, but later settled in Tønsberg, where Benjamin started Benjamin Koklin's knitwear shop.

Ida was arrested on 26 November 1942 in the family home. Only she and her daughter Gitel (married Aasen) were at home. When Ida realized what was about to happen, she pushed Gitel out the kitchen door. Ida was transported to Akershuskaia and put on the prisoner ship D/S Donau. The man and the two youngest sons were sent with the same transport.

On arrival at Auschwitz on 1 December, Ida was sent directly to the gas chamber and killed.
