Julius Koklin
1922 - 1943
Julius Koklin was born on 31 July 1922 at Nordstrand in Oslo. The parents were Ida b. Becker (b. 1887 in Latvia) and Benjamin Koklin (b. 1891 in Latvia). He had four siblings, Charles (b. 1914), Gitel (b. 1916), Ruth (b. 1919) and Emil Georg (b. 1925). The family later moved to Tønsberg.
In 1942, Julius went to the gymnasium and was regularly accompanied by Lill from the same town.
Julius was arrested together with his father on 26 October 1942 while they were both staying in Oslo. They were interned at Berg internment camp near Tønsberg. The following month, on 26 November, Julius was sent from Berg together with his father and brother Emil Georg to Oslo harbor and deported on the transport ship Donau. The mother Ida had been arrested the same morning and was transported out of the country on the same ship transport. On arrival at Auschwitz, the family's men were taken out for forced labour, while the mother was sent to the gas chamber.
Julius fell ill and ended up in a hospital sometime around the turn of the year 1942/43. After a selection, he was transported to the gas chamber and killed on 14 January 1943.
